FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


Q. When does the season begin?
A. August 1, 2022. Please keep in mind that football and cheer is a huge commitment. Our practices run 4 or 5 days a week up to 2.5 hours a day (max 10 hours per week) throughout August and early September vacations during this period are NOT recommended. Our National Rule book states that any athlete MUST complete a full 10 hours of conditioning before participating in any contact drills. Missing any time once practice starts can cause your athlete to fall behind. Please plan accordingly. If you have vacation plans after the start date of practice, please contact one of our Board Members immediately to discuss the pros and cons of the situation or to rethink your vacation or your commitment to Torrance Panther Youth Football and Cheer team.

Q. How long does the season last?
A. Cheer and football season Regionals and Nationals will end in October. For those qualified to move on to Cheer competitions the season will end the end of January 2023. Football season going passed the season finals can go well into November 2022- more information to follow.


Q. Where can I register my child for football or Cheer?
A. Anyone can register by clicking Register on the top right button located on the torrance-panthers.com website. Follow the steps as you get prompted.

Q. Is there an option for payment plan available?
A. Yes. There will be an option available after you are ready for check out and pay.

Q. Where do I fill out the Medical History and Participant Contract forms and when are they due?
A. Medical History and Player Contract can be downloaded from the Torrance-panthers.com website under registration information or it can be downloaded after registering or logging into your account by selecting desktop Icon called My Account located on the left side. Scroll down and you will see the participants profile to download and print. The Medical History form can be taken to the participant’s Dr. or Pediatrician to fill out and turned in at the time registration documents are due (TBD).

Q. When does registration end?
A. Early bird registration ends April 1st (discount rate). Registration ends June 1st  (regular rate)

Q. Are the uniforms part of the registration fees?
A. Cheer uniforms are included for participants registered for Tiny Mites. This also includes shoes, and Cheer Camp shirts, shorts and bow.

New football participants include equipment- shoulder pads and helmet (Pay regular registration fees)
Returning football participants who own equipment shoulder pads and helmet (Pay a discounted registration fees)     

Q. When will practices be held?
A. Practices will start August 1st. Time and location are TBD after team and coaches have been established. Communication will be emailed to all participants and also listed on the Torrance-panthers.com website for key dates for events.

Q. What time will practices be held?
A. Practices are in the evening after 4:30 (dependent on coaches availability) for  2 hours sometimes 2.5 half hours.


Q. Where will practices be held?
A. Football practices will be held at Torrance Park (Subject to change).
Cheer Outdoor - Practices will be held at different parks. Wilson Park and Torrance Park and possibly South High’s field.
Cheer Indoors - Practices are moved to indoor space at the beginning of October. We use the high school’s cheer room upon availability. Since we use their rooms, we go according to their schedules. We DO NOT place you by your home school boundaries.


Q. How many days will be practice be?
A. Mitey Might through Varsity - In the beginning of the season we practice 4 times a week to comply with the Nationals Rules and Regulations. An athlete MUST complete a full 10 hours of conditioning before participating in any contact drills. Once the requirement is met, practice will reduce to 3 times a week.
Tiny Mite - Practices are 3 times a week and then will reduce to 2 times a week.


Q. Where will games played be located?
A. Locations will be determined upon availability and according to the school’s schedule. Coaches will communicate with you once we know more.  


Q. How much volunteer time is expected from parents?
A. Parents are expected to volunteer for league and/or team activities for the duration of their team’s season, which includes playoffs and scrimmage games. Parents are also expected to assist during game day (field set up/take down, spotter duty, score board). Parents will also need to help at Opening Day.


Communication:
Download the app GROUP ME, Football – GameChanger Communication will be done through e-mail and GROUP ME. E-mails will be from the Cheer Director and Cheer VP until teams get established. Once teams get established, you will be hearing from your coaches.


Attendance
: Attendance policy is strict and EVERYONE must follow it. It is in place to protect all the Torrance Youth football & Cheer participants. This is a TEAM sport.

*All coaches are fingerprinted/live scanned and CPR certified
